CEU Course Description

This course is designed to provide Texas nurses with a comprehensive understanding of the legal and ethical principles governing their practice. It covers essential topics such as the Texas Nursing Practice Act, the Board's rules, standards of nursing practice, and principles of nursing ethics. The course aims to equip nurses with the knowledge they need to meet state requirements for continuing nursing education and to enhance their professional practice. By the end of this course, nurses will be well-versed in the legal and ethical frameworks that guide their practice, ensuring they can provide the highest standard of care while adhering to state regulations. This course will prepare nurses to navigate complex legal and ethical situations with confidence and integrity.

CEU Course Objectives

1. Identify the key components of the Texas Nursing Practice Act and explain their relevance to nursing practice.
2. Describe the Board's rules, including §217.11 Standards of Nursing Practice, and discuss how they apply to everyday nursing activities.
3. Explain the Board's position statements and principles of nursing ethics and their impact on professional conduct.
4. Discuss the concept of professional boundaries in nursing and strategies for maintaining them.
5. Evaluate case studies to apply legal and ethical principles in real-world nursing scenarios.
