CE Course Description
This course equips social workers with up-to-date knowledge and skills for providing compassionate, effective end-of-life care. Through reference materials, case studies, and interactive discussions, participants will explore topics including hospice and palliative care, ethical decision-making, grief counseling, and cultural competence in end-of-life situations. Emphasis is placed on developing therapeutic communication strategies and creating patient and family-centered care plans, as well as supporting patients and families through anticipatory grief and fostering resilience.

- Perform specific biopsychosocial assessments to identify and address the unique social, emotional, and practical needs of patients and their families facing end-of-life.
- Implement patient-centered care plans focusing on holistic pain management, palliative/hospice education, and patient/family advocacy.
- Explain communication techniques social workers utilize in discussing delicate topics such as patient prognosis, end-of-life decisions such as Advanced Directives, MOLST/POLST, Code Status, and funeral/memorial service planning.
