CE Course Description

In all behavioral health professions, the overwhelming expectation is that professionals must protect the well-being of their clients, and they must maintain ethical standards in order to do so.  Important ethical considerations for marriage and family therapists include boundary crossings and boundary violations, multiple roles and dual relationships, informed consent, confidentiality, and professional competence.

CE Course Objectives

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the marriage & family therapy core values, ethical standards, and core competencies.
  2. Examine criteria of informed consent and how to present risks and benefits of services.
  3. Identify how to protect privacy and confidentiality and what are compelling professional reasons to disclose client information
  4. Recognize the boundaries of individual therapists competencies and practicing with integrity .
  5. Examine the multi-dimensions of cultural competence
