CE Course Objectives

  1. Discuss how the DSM-5 may impact clinical practice, research, the pharmaceutical industry, the legal system, and the general public.
  2. Outline the ten major revisions of the DSM-5.
  3. Review the history of psychiatric diagnosis and how diagnoses are validated.
  4. Describe how mental disorders can be separated from normality, while examining the clinical utility of the DSM-5.
  5. Examine the major diagnostic groups in the DSM-5.
  6. Discuss the future of psychiatric diagnosis, including issues that need to be resolved for the next DSM revision.
