CEU Course Description

This continuing education course offers practical strategies for nursing home and assisted living administrators looking to move beyond rigid routines and build vibrant, person-centered communities. Grounded in current federal survey standards and recent research on aging, the curriculum explores how to foster meaningful resident autonomy, rich social connections, adaptive fitness, restorative wellness, and supportive workplace cultures. Participants will gain actionable tools to enhance daily life, protect resident dignity, and ensure residents truly thrive across the long-term care continuum.

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Optimize daily residential environments and operational practices to directly elevate the holistic quality of life, purpose, and personal agency for older adults across the long-term care continuum.
  2. Implement person-centered care strategies that protect resident autonomy, dignity, and personal choice in accordance with federal and state regulatory standards such as F550, F558, and F561.
  3. Design and facilitate inclusive social and recreational programming, including intergenerational activities, pet therapy, and resident-led initiatives to foster community connection and psychological well-being.
  4. Integrate evidence-based physical activity guidelines, proactive health management, restorative sleep routines, and culturally responsive nutrition to support overall resident health outcomes.
  5. Cultivate a supportive workplace culture through consistent staff assignments, empathy training, and active feedback loops to enhance relationship-centered caregiving.
