The guideline is relevant to all healthcare professionals providing or directing treatment services to patients recovering from a stroke, in any healthcare setting (primary care, specialty care, and long-term care) and in community programs.

CEU Course Description

1. Describe the primary and secondary goals of rehabilitation following stroke.

2. Discuss the necessity of early assessment and intervention in optimizing rehabilitation.

3. Identify the role of the rehabilitation team, including the patient and family, in ensuring optimal outcome.

4. Evaluate ways in which ongoing medical management of risk factors and comorbidities is essential to survival after stroke.

5. Summarize evidence-based practices that are designed to achieve maximum functionality and independence, and to improve quality of life.
