Course Description
A combination of several research articles on current genetic and neurodevelopmental factors to schizophrenia.
Course Objectives
1. Evaluate current research on the genetic and neurodevelopmental contributors to schizophrenia.
2. Identify structural and functional brain abnormalities in the disorder.
3. Recognize prenatal factors in schizophrenia including endogenous factors such as pregnancy and birth complications, and exogenous factors including season of birth, maternal infections, toxins, and nutritional issues.
4. Determine how social and emotional factors contribute to schizophrenia, while identifying psychosocial treatments, long-term outcomes, prognosis and recovery for the disorder.
