CEU Course Description

This course provides an overview of developmental, generational, and inter-generational issues, as well as suggestions for specific peer support strategies for working with women across the lifespan.

Course Objectives

1. Discuss developmental, generational, and lifespan issues that impact trauma and trauma recovery among women.

2. Describe the factors that make girls particularly susceptible to abuse, violence, and trauma.

3. Identify the principles and language of peer support as well as the role of the “common experience” in building supportive relationships.

4. Outline specific peer support strategies that may help trauma survivors reconnect with self and others and create the lives that they want.
