CE Course Description

Numerous factors associated with homelessness may increase the risk of developing severe opioid use disorders and make treatment more difficult.  This CE course discusses optimal care for people with opioid use disorders who are homeless or marginally housed, addressing clinical and programmatic issues.

CE Course Objectives

1.  Explain harm reduction.

2.  Investigate barriers to effective treatment and management of opioid use disorders.

3.  Examine the features that should be included in a patient-centered goal.

4.  Elucidate the considerations in selecting a medication-assisted treatment setting.

5.  Identify which baseline laboratory evaluation should only be performed with a patient’s permission.

6.  Provide the six elements critical to a brief intervention to change substance abuse behavior.
