CEU Course Description

This course was developed from the National Cancer Institute booklet which is a resource for women who have ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) or breast cancer that can be removed with surgery.  The booklet discusses: facts about DCIS and breast cancer; surgery choices; lymph nodes, lymphedema, and sentinel lymph node biopsy.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Understand the meaning of a DCIS diagnosis.

2.  Become familiar with what the stage of breast cancer is used to describe.

3.  Identify the type of women that would not be good candidates for tissue flap surgery.

4.  Review the rates that cancer returns for women depending on the treatment type.
