CEU Course Description

This course was developed from the STD Surveillance 2012 publication which provides the public health impact, direct impact on pregnancy, and observations in the United States for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and PID among women and infants.  In addition, this publication addresses chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis among adolescents and young adults, racial and ethnic minorities, and among men who have sex with men.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Identify the rate that PID can lead to problems such as ectopic pregnancies.

2.  Review the prevalence of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis among different racial and ethnic groups.

3.  Become familiar with which age group acquires the majority of STDs.

4.  Compare the STD prevalence by HIV status of men who have sex with men.
