CEU Course Objectives

1.  Discuss the first task in caring for an HIV-infected woman who is pregnant or considering pregnancy.

2.  Enumerate the persons for which ART is strongly recommended, regardless of CD4 count.

3.  Investigate successful approaches to supporting patients’ adherence to the ART regimen.

4.  Examine antiretroviral therapy's ability in reducing the risk of perinatal transmission of HIV.

5.  Identify the factors that influence the risk of perinatal transmission from mother to infant.

6.  Describe what should be done for HIV-exposed neonates at greater than or equal to 35 weeks’ gestation.
