CE Course Objectives

1. Summarize the purpose, principles and key provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

2. Describe the type of entities that are covered by the Privacy Rule.

3. Identify the required and permitted uses and disclosures of protected health information by a covered entity or its business associate.

4. Discuss the Privacy Rule’s provisions and requirements related to research, administrative considerations, compliance, and enforcement.
