Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) have lifelong effects on individual functioning in areas such as learning, relationships, and independence in daily life.  This CE course provides information and tools to support healthcare professionals in making informed decisions about selection, implementation, and monitoring of ASD interventions.

CE Course Objectives

1.  Enumerate individual characteristics that often are central to intervention selection.

2.  Investigate the medications that have strong evidence that support their use specifically for individuals with ASDs.

3.  Compare and contrast child-centered and adult-centered care.

4.  Examine the component that remains one of the strongest predictors of adaptive outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorders across the lifespan.

5.  Identify the factors that are considered when selecting evidence-based interventions.

6.  Describe the key components of successful healthcare transitions for adolescents and young adults.
