CE Course Description

This course was written for drug and alcohol counselors across the U.S. using various codes of ethics from different boards in order to give a broad overview of ethics guidelines, confidentiality, and boundaries as they pertain to the substance abuse professional domain.  CAADE, NAADAC and IOWA are mentioned specifically because their broadly applicable codes of ethics have been incorporated with permission.  Adhering to ethical standards is essential to the safe and effective delivery of care to individuals seeking addiction treatment. As well as specific codes of ethics, state and federal laws and universal principles of health care ethics are presented as additional guidance and to assist in effective resolution of ethical dilemmas that may arise in clinical practice.
