 CEU Course Description

This CEU course discusses common types of hallucinogens (LSD, Peyote, Psilocybin, and PCP) and club drugs (GHB, Rohypnol, and Ketamine) with regard to: how the drug is abused; how the drug affects the brain; addictive potential; other adverse effects on health; and treatment options.

Course Objectives

1. Discuss the characteristics and prevalence of club drugs, hallucinogens, and MDMA.

2. Identify the effects these substances have on the brain at low-to-moderate and high doses.

3. Describe the abuse potential, detrimental health effects, and addictive properties of psychoactive drugs.

4. Summarize treatment options that exist for use and abuse of these substances as well as current research efforts and findings.
