CE Course Description
The massive growth in incarceration rates in the United States has had significant consequences for families. This CE course describes the importance of responsible parenting, a strong relationship between fathers and their partners / coparents, and economic stability for fathers who are incarcerated or were formerly incarcerated and provides recommendations based on the experiences of the Fatherhood Reentry projects for working with the reentry population.

1. Analyze why parenting activities alone may not be sufficient to overcome tense or conflict-ridden relationships between the father and his partner / coparent.
2. Explain how parenting activities strengthen the relationship between fathers and their children.
3. Select to whom services should be targeted directly to in order to have significant potential to help repair family relationships and reduce trauma.
4. Summarize three ways that programs helped prevent and address domestic violence issues.
5. Identify the assistance provided by the programs that help fathers overcome barriers to reentry that interfer with their ability to parent their children.
