CEU Course Description

This CE course provides a starting point offering brief, practical, and easy-to-read information that is useful in planning and delivering prevention strategies.  Setting your sights on a prevention strategy, ensuring that your prevention strategy is built on a solid foundation, and ways to get the word out about prevention are the main topics of focus for this course.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Discuss the reasons why performing a needs assessment is of critical importance.

2.  Investigate the elements that must be present for a person to perform a change in behavior.

3.  Examine the stage of change theory used to alter personal behavior patterns and lead to long-term change and explain how a patient moves from one stage to the next.

4.  Describe the six prevention strategies identified by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
