CEU Course Description

This course was developed from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration advisory which provides behavioral health professionals - including substance abuse treatment specialists - and primary care medical providers (who treat people with opioid dependence) with an introduction to extended-release injectable naltrexone.  The advisory also includes succinct information about extended-release injectable naltrexone, how it compares with other medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options, and clinical strategies that may be used to select, initiate, and administer treatment.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Identify which health care professionals are able to prescribe extended-release injectable naltrexone.

2.  Enumerate which substances are opioid agonists and which are opioid antagonists.

3.  Become familiar with the proper way to administer extended-release injectable naltrexone.
