CEU Course Description

This course aims to fill knowledge gaps that many have on why people become addicted to drugs or how drugs change the brain to foster compulsive drug use.  In order to do this, scientific information about the disease of drug addiction, including the many harmful consequences of drug abuse and the basic approaches that have been developed to prevent and treat substance use disorders will be provided.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Discuss the reasons for drug use that make adolescents particularly vulnerable.

2.  Investigate the methods of drug administration that increases its addictive potential and examine the cause of this phenomenon.

3.  Describe the treatment practice that seeks to help patients recognize, avoid, and cope with the situations in which they are most likely to abuse drugs.
