CEU Course Description

This CEU course describes the organizational settings, services provided, and staff mix of telemental and telehealth programs by examining: the profile and organizational context of rural telemental health programs; telemental health’s role in the current rural health system; telemental health and health care reform; and the extent of telehealth use in rural and urban hospitals.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Enumerate the barriers, as noted by a representative from the American Telemedicine Association, to the ongoing expansion of telehealth.

2.  Investigate the most common services provided and service settings used for telemental health programs.

3.  Describe the benefits of telehealth in terms of rural inpatient applications.
