CE Course Objectives
Every individual entering a health care setting should receive an assessment that determines his or her tobacco use status and interest in quitting. The course will cover screening and assessment practices and tools, compares cessation methods and evaluates behavioral techniques and appropriate medication to assist smokers in quitting.

1. Identify effective screening and assessment practices and tools that are used in tobacco cessation programs.
2. Compare various tobacco cessation methods while describing the value of implementing these strategies and discussing appropriate treatment structure and intensity.
3. Evaluate specific behavioral, medication adherence, and combination techniques used to assist smokers in quit attempts and successful cessation.
4. Describe the importance of including tobacco dependence education and training across all clinical disciplines.
