Course Description
Written and published by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), one of the U.S. Government’s National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland, this course introduces the reader to the signs, symptoms, causes and types of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). It also explores immediate post injury complications as well as long term problems associated with TBI. There is a brief synopsis on current research being conducted by NINDS.
Course Objectives
1. Possess a working definition of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
2. Be aware of signs, symptoms, causes and risks associated with TBI.
3. Recognize complications associated with Brain Injury.
4. Recognize modalities of treatment and rehabilitation.
5. Be aware of long term problems associated with TBI.
