Course Description

This course was developed using accurate and authoritative information regarding sexual harassment provided by Los Angeles attorney David Kadue, and it gives a brief overview of what sexual harassment is under federal law and what it is not. The course provides valuable information about the development of sexual harassment law and gives specific examples of court cases where harassment claims were and were not upheld, and it would be appropriate for students as well as supervisors and employees in the medical, mental health, education, and social work fields.


Course Objectives

1. Review the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's definition of sexual harassment including unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and verbal and physical contact of a sexual nature.

2. Examine the specific behaviors that may be interpreted as sexual harassment in the workplace and how a workplace environment can become "sexually hostile”.

3. Evaluate how to avoid sexual harassment of co-workers and how
to deal with sexual harassment if it arises.

4. Recognize the appropriate steps to take if becoming involved in a
sexual harassment investigation.
