CE Course Description
The development of this publication reflects a new and important partnership between the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) and The National Council on the Aging (NCOA), in bringing an important resource to communities to improve crisis counseling services to older adults following disaster.
CE Course Objectives
1. Evaluate the later years of life span development while recognizing the solid contributions this “at-risk” part of our population can make for the general good during widespread emergencies.
2. Determine the attributes that make many older persons particularly vulnerable to effects of disaster.
3. Identify the ways that collaborative action between family members, coalitions, organizations, and professionals can ensure that elders have access to appropriate disaster services.
4. Describe characteristics and observations of older persons who have experienced devastation, as well as myths about aging and disasters.
