CEU Course Description

NIDA (the National Institute on Drug Abuse) research is developing a clearer picture of the dangers of hallucinogenic and dissociative drugs. In this paper, they have compiled the scientific information to inform readers and hopefully prevent the use of these drugs.

CEU Course Objectives

1. Differentiate between classic hallucinogenic and dissociative drugs and list street names for these substances.

2. Describe the prevalence of hallucinogenic and dissociative drug use as well as the reasons that people use these substances.

3. Identify how hallucinogens act on the brain and body, including sensory, physical, and long-term effects.

4. Explain the way dissociative drugs work and outline the common reactions of low, moderate, and high doses.
