This option 'only' applies to those participants who will be submitting their certificates directly to NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors) for license renewal. All others will use Standard CEU Hours.

Course Description:

A guide for substance abuse treatment programs subject to confidentiality regulations under 42CFR Part 2. Explains which programs must also comply with the HIPAA Privacy Rule. This course meets requirements for ethics and confidentiality ceus.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:

1) List those programs to which the Privacy Rule applies

2) Describe the difference between the Privacy Rule and 42CFR Part 2 regarding disclosure of patient information

3) Explain the allowable process for which an individual may file a complaint against a treatment program per the Privacy Rule
