Course Description

The National Institute of Mental Health publication, Eating Disorders-Facts About Eating Disorders And The Search For Solutions, provides the information for this course which gives a brief overview of the complexities and treatment strategies of eating disorders. Anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge eating are discussed as well as research findings and research directions for these very serious issues. 


Course Objectives 

1. Show an understanding of the various factors that contribute to the prevalence of eating disorders in the United States.

2. Differentiate between anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating including frequency and symptoms.

3. Examine treatment options for eating disorders including nutritional rehabilitation, psychosocial intervention, and medication management.
