Course Description
This pamphlet, written by the National Institute of Mental Health, offers a basic overview of Women and Depression. Included are topics of basic signs and symptoms, co-existing illnesses, adolesecent girls and older women, the different forms of depression and how can you help someone who is experiencing depression.
Course Objectives
1. Recognize the different forms, signs and symptoms, and causes of depression, and ways that these may impact women's mental health.
2. Identify how particular female populations such as adolescents, older adults, and pregnant and parenting women may be affected by depression.
3. Describe psychotherapeutic interventions and medications used in the treatment of depression as well as practical strategies for seeking help if depression occurs.
